St louis +1 no brainer IMO...Pittsburgh sucks and has packed it in for the season IMO. Stlouis is playing outside which makes them a bit slower but there recievers should be open ALL day as Pitts CB's are HORRID. GL all

Actually I feel that Pitt has alot of value here as they showed significant signs of life vs. Denver two week ago. I think they may win this one by 10.

I disagree with a few things in this thread. They are:

1) I don't think Pittsburgh has given up.
2) I don't think St. Louis is easy. They have yet to show me that they are all the way back, especially playing a decent team on the road, outdoors and on grass (or do they use field turf there).

That being said, I would lean towards St. Louis, as I don't think they can cover the Rams on the outside, unless they put monster pressure on Bulger. Even with pressure, Bulger hasn't seemed bothered.

Steelers play on real grass. In a related topic, possible explanation for their poor play this year is smoking grass. I think Bam Morris is back in the locker room!

This spread surprised me and looks to be the most obvious play at first glance ... but this is an interconference game that may mean alot more to Pit than it will to St. Louis. The Rams' next two games:

Week 9. on the road to division rival San Fran (who should win easily against Arizona this week)
Week 10. at home versus Baltimore on Sunday night

Something to think about.

I like the Steelers to win at home, especially with Gordon being hurt, and being off a bye week. The Ram's will be down to their 3rd string RB right?

That #3 RB has looked adequate so far. Harris had 18 carries for 85 yards and a TD. Of course if Gordon is out, their depth might be in trouble. Gordon's injury looked to be an aggravation from his previous ankle injury, and not overly serious.

As a side note, with the weapons they have in that offense, along with their system, there are probably several posters in this forum who could gain 4 yards per carry.

I am a big Rams fan and with that being said I have serious doubts they will win this game.
First, the Rams are a beat up football team right now especially on defense. Travis Fisher, Tommy Polley, and Adam Archuleta are all probably out of this game. This spells big trouble in stopping the pass against the big 3 of the Steelers. Second, the Rams have not won a road game since last year at Arizona. Losses include Philadelphia, Washington, Kansas City, Seattle (twice), and at the Giants. The average loss is greater than a touchdown. Second, this Steelers team has lost 3 games in a row and are currently in last place in the AFC least. Cowher has always been great in these spots. Third, against top coaches, Mike Martz turns into the big boob that he really is. He is consistently outcoached and very predictable often blowing crucial time outs early in halves on stupid challenges or poor time management on the play clock. Fourth, Steelers are coming off the bye week which just adds more time for Professor Cowher to prepare against the complicated schemes of the Rams. I expect the Rams secondary of rookies and second year players to get torched in this one. Without Arch and Polley, a power runner like Bettis will also have a big day, something Bettis would love to do against old team. Martz didn't think Bettis fit his style of offense. I look for the Steelers to cover pretty easily. With this being said I hope none of this happens but I wouldn't bet on it.

1. the steelers have not quit. they are a half game out of first place. they picked up ground by not even playing on sunday. it was like a win.
2. doesn't matter who starts at running back for the lambs, they will not run the ball on the steeers.
3. the rams may not even attempt a run as they will throw all over the steelers.

If Tim Couch can light up the Steelers I am sure Bulger can.

I have noticed over the past that given time Cowher cooks up some great game plans with unexpected new plays. However, his trouble is that other teams adapt during the game, something Cowher has trouble doing. So Pitt 1st Half, Rams 2nd half may be worth taking into consideration

De Niro- You bring up a good point about Maddox. This guy is a human turnover machine at times. The thing I find surprising is that any time Kordelia turned the ball over, the fans were screaming for his scalp. Now I'm not saying Kordelia is even a decent NFL quarterback but Tommy Maddox has thrown lots of picks and fumbled a lot but he gets all the credit when the Steelers do win.

That being said, I like them a lot in this spot. This is Pittsburgh's season and they know it. They're coming off a bye and played a good defensive game at Denver only to get nipped at the wire. The Rams are a bit beat up on defense and have San Francisco on the road and home to Baltimore on a Sunday night for their next two games after this. That's a bit of a sandwich spot for the Rams and the surface change also affects them here.

The Rams will have a lot of trouble running on Pittsburgh. I know the Steeler secondary is hideous but entire Steeler team will pull together here and get a solid win.

I've got this game in a teaser, rams plus the points and under 55 1/2 (and Indy -3). what do you guys think about the total? Rams playing on grass, plus the way that Steelers/Denver game went has me loving the under 55 1/2, but I suck at totals so what do I know...
